There are vast numbers of articles and Youtube videos that will really give you excellent tips and techniques for doing not only glitter makeup, but glitter tattoos. What we have to offer here is just a little bit of data that might help you make some good decisions when shopping for glitter.

Flake Size: Most people who wear glitter makeup and want it to look like glitter are wearing 0.008 flakes. This is considered to be Ultra Fine in the glitter industry. The glitter flakes offer dramatic looks and really catches a lot of light. If you are going more for the blush/eyeshadow look then you are down into the 0.004 to 0.002 micronic flake. This is more like what you buy over the counter from cosmetic companies. This gives you a lovely metallic shimmer, but you no longer can see the individual flakes. It really all depends on the look you are trying to achieve.

Stage: If you are using this for stage makeup, we really recommend going with the larger flakes 0.008 and for over-the-top effects even a smattering of 0.040 would not hurt.

Glitter Type: For body glitter, you will want to make sure you use Cosmetic Grade polyester flake or acrylic flake glitters. Craft Glitters are way too heavy and are not appropriate for makeup (fine for masks and some costumes).

Made In The USA: Try to use glitter from the US. This is not just a nice patriotic or "employ thy neighbors" comment. This is about not really knowing what goes into the glitter films & coatings made abroad. We personally know someone who can handle our US made glitters without any issues. If they handle import glitter, their hands get rashes and swell up. How scary is that?
